This is the most comprehensive rankings ever produced for Northern Ireland athletics. As of 4th November it lists 688 female performances from 386 athletes and 731 male performances from 453 athletes.  Every effort has been made to include all relevent information but the provision of dates of birth continues to be a major problem. I have spent literally days wading through all sorts of entry lists, old rankings etc but there are still far too many missing DOB's. Given the fact that there are three seperate qualifying dates governing the sport ie.  1st January for NI and Ulster; 1st July for Schools and 1st September for UK competition and rankings this creates considerable problems. Surely it is time that a comprehensive registration scheme/database was introduced to cover all competing athletes whether at schools level or in open competition.

Thanks are due to the Athletics Northern Ireland office staff and to Alan Kirk (Down District Schools Secretary for filling in some of the gaps).

The Northern Ireland Track and Field Rankings cover all the recognised track and field events for all age groups both male and female.

Performances will only be ranked if they take place at a meeting involving recognised officials. This includes all NIAF events, Young Athlete Leagues, Walsin YA Meetings, District, Ulster and Irish School etc.  Performances achieved during inter school meets or School Sports are not recognised for ranking purposes.

While every effort will be made to pick up on all performances athletes should ensure that the compilers (John Glover for Women and Alan Keys for men) are informed of any performances made outside of Northern Ireland.
